Nose : Fine, distinguished. Very delicate, the first nose is marked by notes of rose honey, bitter orange, candy sugar and honeysuckle. Allowed to breathe, it becomes somewhat medicinal (balsam, mustard), camphorous and even spicy (Cayenne). Gradually, scents of beeswax mixed with apricot coulis and quince jelly provide plenty of depth to the aromatic palette.
Appearance : orange copper.
Mouth : Lively, powerful. Very different from the nose, the attack on the palate is marked by flavors of hot tar, pipe tobacco, flambéed banana and apricot kernel. The hot tar wins out as time passes. Continuing, the mid-palate becomes gourmand (gingerbread, tarte Tatin) and oily. Equally empyreumatic, the aftertaste reveals notes of burnt wood, incense and pine resin. Slightly burnt cane sugar gradually covers the taste buds.
Finale : Long, suave. Evoking the skin of a white peach, the start of the finish is velvety. Rarely has quince jelly been so well transcribed. Gorgeous. At the very end of the palate, scents of honeysuckle, orange blossom and damson highlight the floral evolution of the taste palette. The retro-olfaction is honeyed (lavender), chocolatey and exotic (ripe banana). The empty glass is intensely spicy, camphorous, spicy and medicinal (tiger balm).
