Nose : Rich, deep. On the first nose, notes of tar mingle delightfully with candied fruits (orange, tangerine, apricot) and heady flowers (violet, carnation, hyacinth). Allowed to breathe, cocoa powder and grated ginger rub shoulders with scents of sandalwood and patchouli. Then, suddenly, the influence of aging in port barrels becomes very noticeable. Black fruits (grapes, blackberries) and brandied cherries delicately permeate the ambient atmosphere.
Appearance : Mahogany
Mouth : Full, pulpy. As a perfect extension of the nose, the attack on the palate is marked by notes of pomegranate and candied red fruits (griot cherry, redcurrant, raspberry). Slender, the mid-palate weaves a remarkably smooth vegetal (sugar cane) and exotic (plantain banana) base on which the finish deposits, with infinite sweetness, noble spices (cumin, cardamom), aromatic plants ( dill, verbena) and heady flowers (hyacinth, geranium).
Finish : Long, fluffy. With an extraordinary concentration and at the same time evanescent, the start of the finish is dominated by flavors of rose petal and grenadine. Mineral (slate), the aftertaste evokes black grapes about to be picked. In retro-olfaction, sugar cane honey takes us back to Mauritius. The empty glass is both chocolatey, sweet (candy sugar) and delicious (fig jam).
