The Daftmill distillery is located in the fertile Eden Valley of the Scottish Lowland. It is one of the youngest Scottish whiskey distilleries, having been founded by the Cuthbert family. This family of farmers for 6 generations obtained its distillation license in 2005, launching its first vintage the same year. The distillery adopted the name of the mill, the "crazy mill" in English, from the name of the nearby stream which seems, due to the local topography, to run uphill.
