The Springbank distillery malts its barley in the traditional way, which gives it particular characteristics. This barley is partly dried over a peat fire. Its stills are heated over an open flame. In addition, it practices a double and a half distillation (incorporating the distillation tails into the heating core after they have been redistilled).
Springbank 10 years is very representative of the Campbeltown style. Its finesse of expression, its elegance, its spicy and salty notes on a creamy background are its main character traits. The maturation of this Single Malt took place 60% in bourbon barrels and 40% in sherry (sherry) barrels.
Color : Pale gold.
Nose : Very "Springbank", it reveals itself to be charming with notes of fresh fruits such as pear, strawberry, citrus fruits, and apple. There is also a hint of peat, vanilla and malt.
Taste : Quite lively on the attack and spicy (nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla essence), it confirms the nose and evolves into cereals (green malt), coconut and ripe pear.
Finish : Sweet with a lingering salty tingle. It is also floral (rose), slightly oily and woody (oak).
