Nose : Pulpy and juicy. Covered with a thin layer of Emeri cloth, the first nose wonderfully embodies the rancid (orange, cherry, apricot), empyreumatic (tar) and herbaceous (laurel, lime), almost peaty and earthy character of Glendronach. Splendid. Allowed to breathe, heady flowers (rose, lavender) rub shoulders in a particularly original way with notes of rice which evoke the world of sake. This oriental dimension is confirmed with the appearance of aromas of cherry blossoms.
Appearance : Orange copper
Taste : Lively and delicious. Initially, spices and peppers (cinnamon, cloves, cayenne) pierce the palate. Almost simultaneously, sweet orange juice and salted butter caramel irrigate the taste buds. This balance of flavors is complemented by a wonderful vegetal, roasted (coffee) and malted bitterness. As an apotheosis, the aftertaste is honeyed (lime blossom, heather), chocolatey and exotic (mango, passion fruit).
Finish : Long and intense. Increasingly present, the same exotic fruits to which persimmons and guavas have been added provide the sensation of starting a new tasting. This shows the persuasive power of the taste palette. Suddenly, notes of watercress, arugula and pine resin open up new horizons that had remained hidden. Once again, Glendronach shines. In retro-olfaction, it is nuts (almond, walnut) and aromatic plants (chervil, oregano) which set the tempo. The empty glass takes us into the distillery cellars to breathe in the smell of sherry barrels.
