Nikka's first distillery, Yoichi is located on the coast of Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan. Produced using traditional methods, such as direct heating over a coal fire, the malts perfectly display the authentic character of this exceptional place with their marine and finely peaty notes. Beyond the emblematic smoky character of Yoichi Single Malt, this 10 year old version offers beautiful maturity, roundness as well as a delicate peat balanced by woody and herbaceous nuances.
Lively and grassy. Apricot, Turkish delight, peel.
Tasting
Nose : Fresh and grassy. Fruity notes soften the first nose. The peat is discreet, allowing the aromatic palette to fully express itself. With more aeration, pastry aromas emanate.
Appearance : Bright Gold.
Mouth : Fluid, lively. Pepper refreshes the palate, followed by pastry cream which brings roundness, while the shy peat fades away.
Finish : Long and dry. Moist earth notes balance the woody flavors.
