The property
Château d'Yquem 's reputation has been built over the last 400 years, reaching its zenith in 1855 when it was elevated to the rank of Premier Cru Classé Supérieur in the official classification commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III for the Universal Exhibition in Paris. The only name to have achieved this distinction, Yquem undoubtedly reigns supreme among the legends of great wines.
The vineyard
Château d'Yquem has approximately 100 hectares under vine, planted with 75% Sémillon and 25% Sauvignon Blanc. The Ciron River, a tributary of the Garonne essential to the production of Sauternes wines , provides an exceptional microclimate for the estate's vines. It is thanks to its influence that the morning mists develop in the autumn, just before the harvest, leading to the development of noble rot, Botrytis cinerea. Beyond the characteristics of its terroir and climate, Château d'Yquem's reputation also owes much to its expertise and exacting standards. With drastically limited yields, Château d'Yquem produces Sauternes wines whose rarity contributes to their prestige.

Tasting
Dress
The dress is stunning.
Nose
The nose blends intense fruity aromas (figs, dried fruit, apricot compote) and vanilla with floral notes (jasmine, acacia blossom). With aeration, delicious and refreshing zesty notes are revealed.
Mouth
The precise and smooth attack gives way to a silky-smooth mouthfeel and perfect balance. Beautifully long, the palate exhales fresh and elegant aromas of orange blossom, licorice, and gingerbread.
