The "Terres Rouges" vineyards of Château Durand-Laplagne are located in the commune of Puisseguin, northeast of Saint-Émilion. The vineyard covers 14.5 hectares of clay-limestone soils locally known as "red clays." These soils would later lend their name to the "Les Terres Rouges" cuvée.
