Karukera 2009 Select Casks is a rum originating from Guadeloupe , produced at the Espérance distillery, in the heart of the magnificent Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie. This estate is shared by the Longueteau and Karukera brands, with the former supplying the rum for the latter.
The Karukera brand then produces its wines according to its specifications, respecting an original production process unique to this House.
The white rum used to produce this 2009 vintage was aged for seven years (2009 to 2016) in Cognac casks. Distilling its original strength with water brings this Select Casks to an alcohol content of 45% ABV. This vintage is offered in a limited edition of 5,000 bottles.
Tasting
Nose : The nose of this Karukera 2009 opens instantly with pronounced Cognac aromas resulting from the interaction between the rum and the meticulously selected casks. The scents of fresh sugarcane, typical of this brand, are discreetly revealed but gradually assert their presence. Warm spicy notes (pepper) blend with those of vanilla, recalling the exoticism of its origins.
Palate: The tasting opens with beautiful aromas of sugarcane. This sugarcane reveals notes that are as sweet as they are irresistible, mingling with spices (pepper and cinnamon) that relentlessly tease the palate. A very fine structure, concentrated and captivating.
Finish: The finish arrives like the cherry on top, unfolding all the superb aromas of sugarcane so typical of Karukera and bringing a lovely freshness to the whole. A charming touch for this Guadeloupean vintage...
