For La Favorite Exploration N°7 , Franck Dormoy experimented with his new amber rum using Pineau des Charentes casks. The aging process remains at 12 months, and the casks again come from the Navarre cooperage in Saint-Sulpice-de-Cognac.
Pineau des Charentes is not a white wine like Sauternes. It's a fortified wine (or naturally sweet wine), a blend of grape must and cognac that has already been aged in oak barrels. This is a limited edition of 3,000 bottles, even fewer than Exploration N°6. Don't wait too long; it will soon join its six other sisters in the Vintage rum category.
