While many rums are aged in Cognac casks, few benefit from a finish in Port casks !
This is the case with this Mauritian rum, a pure cane juice distilled in a Pot Still still: after 6 years of aging in French oak barrels, it was transferred to Port barrels for an additional year of aging.
The encounter between these two spirits, via the noble wood of the cask, has allowed it to develop remarkable flavors of black fruits mixed with spices which bring a beautiful complexity to the whole.
This is a new creation from the Mauritian brand Saint Aubin , and, what's more, a precious limited edition that should arouse the interest of collectors.
