We're talking about that famous 2021 vintage:
In living memory, the Sabon family had never experienced such a ferocious spring frost. It struck very close to the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation , raising fears of extensive damage to the earliest-ripening grape varieties. Fortunately, this did not materialize. Nevertheless, the 2021 vintage is atypical, taking us back some fifteen years in terms of climatic conditions and the profile of the wines produced. The first wines show lower average alcohol levels than in previous years, and the vintage's beautiful acidity suggests excellent aging potential for wines that can already be enjoyed in their youth.
The Chaupin vintage from La Janasse is once again a success in an atypical vintage.

- On the palate: A beautiful bottle, the archetype of the appellation, expressing the quintessence of Grenache in its birthplace of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. With notes of black fruit and violets, this cuvée ages gracefully, with tannins that are already well integrated.
