The Bunnahabhain distillery is the most northerly and remote on the island of Islay and was opened in 1883 to use surplus grain from local farmers. The name Bunnahabhain translates to 'mouth of the river' and if you ever visit you will see that the distillery is built near the mouth of the Margadale River which flows into the Sound of Islay. Pronounced Bú-na-ha-venn, this Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskey is quite distinct from the many others on the island, given the wonderfully smooth taste profile it is known for.

Adelphi exists to identify the very small number of casks that have produced the ultimate whiskeys. The selection criteria are rarity and maturity, but above all flavor. These whiskeys are both rare and sought-after – these very special casks are so rare that on average, Adelphi only accepts 4% of what is offered. Each whiskey barrel matures its contents very differently, imparting its own character to the whiskey within and, as a result, no two Adelphi are ever the same.

This single malt whiskey was distilled in 2009 at the Bunnahabhain distillery before being placed in an ex-sherry cask and left to mature for 10 years. In 2019 it was bottled at 58.9% as part of the Adelphi selection.

Only 702 bottles were produced for worldwide distribution.
