WHISKEY JAPAN CHICHIBU THE PEATED 2022 53.5° 70 CL

In 2007, Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the founder of the Hanyu distillery, opened a new chapter in the history of whiskey in Japan by building the Chichibu distillery. Located in Saitama Prefecture, approximately 70 km northwest of Tokyo, production began in February 2008. The equipment includes a small mill, a mash tank, Japanese oak (Mizunara) washbacks and a pair of small copper stills made by Forsyths of Rothes, Scotland. Several different types of barrels are used, including bourbon barrels, sherry barrels and hogsheads, all aged in Chichibu's warehouses. Enhanced by the Chichibu environment, the whiskeys are non-chill filtered and uncolored.
