Torabhaig is a new distillery that combines traditional and contemporary approaches. The first distillery built on Skye in 190 years, it is only the second legal distillery ever to operate on the island and has been fully operational since January 2017. They distil in beautiful copper stills, as you would expect, but They chose to ferment in traditional wooden washbacks which add a complexity of flavor to the whisky. This is the second expression of Torabhaig Single Malt bottled in small batches from a maximum of 30 barrels each.

As they settled into their new distillery, they sought the true expression of Torabhaig. Through tireless testing and dialogue, then using the results to inform each subsequent batch, they have developed a distinctive style, their own taste profile that they describe as well-tempered peat. This distillery signature will be the foundation upon which they build their legacy, and they look forward to seeing this style developed across their first four expressions which will be released under the Legacy Series label, as they dig deeper into the complexity of the flavor of the peat to offer a truly exceptional and balanced character.
