The elegance and purity of a vintage champagne signed Louis Roederer

The property

Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Maison de Champagne Louis Roederer has remained family-run and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, Maison Louis Roederer is still in the hands of the same family. Today managed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who embodies the seventh generation of the lineage, Maison Louis Roederer embodies the excellence of Champagne wines throughout the world thanks to vintages produced in the style of a work of art.

The vineyard

With nearly 241 hectares of vines, Maison Louis Roederer draws its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, made up entirely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. A true mosaic of terroirs, the Maison Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots which reflect the full diversity of Champagne soils.

For its 2014 vintage, the house chose terroirs mainly anchored in Verzenay, Verzy, Beaumont-sur-Vesle, Ay, Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant.

An iconic vintage of the house, created for the first time in 1876 for the Tsar of Russia, Cristal is made from 45 exceptional localities, spread over 7 Grands Crus from the Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley and the White Coast.

The vintage

The 2014 vintage is characterized by its strong contrasts in terms of climate. Spring is superb and very dry. It follows the beginning of summer marked by intense heat with a scorching month of June. But from July, the weather becomes autumnal with cool temperatures and rain. The month of September marks the return of sun, heat and dry weather.

Winemaking and aging

The work in the vineyard is guided by ever more virtuous viticultural practices which make it possible to obtain perfect balance and superb maturity of the grapes. 32% of the vinification is carried out undergrowth. The dosage of this Champagne Cristal 2014 from Louis Roederer is 7 grams per liter.

Pinot noir (60%) and chardonnay (40%).
