CHARMES CHAMBERTIN 1ER CRU LOUIS JADOT 2016 75 CL

CHARMES CHAMBERTIN 1ER CRU LOUIS JADOT 2016 75 CL

Location: Gevrey-Chambertin is a commune in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits. It has 26 Premier Cru vineyards and 8 Grand Cru vineyards. Half of the Premier Cru vineyards surround the Grand Cru vineyards (towards Morey), the other half are to the north towards the Combe de Lavaux, with limestone and clay soils.

Characteristics: The vineyard is located in the southern part of the commune, towards Morey Saint Denis, just below the Chambertin Grand Cru, and against Les Mazoyères (which can also claim Charmes). The soils are limestone with a good distribution of clayey marl.

Winemaking: This wine is fermented in vats for approximately 3-4 weeks and then aged in oak barrels for approximately 18-20 months.

Tasting Notes / Food Pairing: Charmes-Chambertin is a deeply colored wine with an intense aromatic expression reminiscent of blackcurrants and other small red or black fruits, animal notes of musk and fur, and often licorice when the wine has matured. It is powerful and combines its tannins with a consistently rich texture and good acidity. This wine pairs well with elaborate, slow-cooked dishes such as beef bourguignon, leg of lamb, and fairly strong cheeses (except blue cheeses).

Storage: This grand cru wine is meant for aging and will keep for between 5 and 20 years depending on the vintage and storage conditions (temperature and humidity).
