Nose : Lively, deep. A subtle blend of juicy melon and ylang-ylang, the initial aromas immediately set the tone for a tasting that, from start to finish, will showcase its vibrant personality, brimming with originality and naturalness. With aeration, apricot kernels mingle with superb varnished and oxidative notes (sherry vinegar). Highly concentrated, the aromatic profile gradually becomes musky, heady (wild geranium, tuberose), powdery (crushed almond), and liqueur-like (apricot, chestnut). Scents of mignonette, mimosa, and honeysuckle beautifully punctuate this first stage of the tasting.
Appearance : old gold with copper highlights
Palate : Firm, powerful. Behind a particularly dynamic attack, flavors of hot chocolate and Belgian coffee bring a great deal of smoothness to the taste buds. Revealing notes of pipe tobacco, camphor, candied citrus, and ginseng root, the mid-palate is refreshed by various herbal infusions (verbena, chamomile) and by the return of apricot, this time in liqueur form. On the finish, cane sugar delicately coats the taste buds.
Finish : long, smooth. The initial burst of flavor is a fabulous excuse to enjoy a rum baba as well as almond and apricot shortbread cookies. Marked by notes of currants, toasted walnuts, and almost roasted mango, the aftertaste possesses an extraordinary youthful expression. The retro-nasal aromas are empyreumatic (tar, essential oils), vanilla, powdery (cocoa), and honeyed (heather, linden). The empty glass reveals aromas of ginger, praline, bois bandé (a type of dried fruit), agave milk, and licorice of rare refinement.
