Nose : delicate, heady. Peat and port initially engage in a titanic duel, neither truly victorious. Peat reigns supreme on the surface (smoke, toast, ash), while port leaves its mark on the aromatic profile with deeper notes (black fruit, roasted nuts). Gradually, the two blend together, lending the nose considerable originality and harmony (rancio, gum arabic).
Appearance : bright gold with orange highlights.
Palate : lively, self-assured. Generous, it initially offers the taster a basket overflowing with fruit (blackberry, redcurrant, strawberry, apple, quince, rhubarb). Then, it reveals a subtly licorice-tinged and vegetal peat (fresh tobacco) around which candied citrus fruits (mandarin, orange), ivy, hollyhocks with their captivating fragrance, and blackberry brambles intertwine.
Finish : long, delicate. Deliciously smooth (toffee, mocha), it also possesses a remarkable firmness (slate). Chichibu's charm is now fully at work: the black color of the peat flirts with a crystalline distillate, and perfectly ripe fruits (greinette apple, black grape) are about to be picked. The empty glass breathes the scent of early autumn.
