The Tullibardine distillery was founded in 1949, on the site of an old brewery dating from the 15th century, in the village of Blackford.
The new Tullibardine Sovereign whisky is the version aged in American oak barrels (replaces the Tullibardine Oak Aged Edition).
The water used in the distillation of Tullibardine comes from the pure, crystalline water of the nearby "Ochil hills" but is also associated with the gold that was sought in the hills next to the distillery.
On the nose, this Scottish whisky is all about vanilla and spices.
On the palate, Tullibardine Sovereign whisky releases notes of pears.
The finish of this single malt is marked by persistent notes of creamy chocolate.
Did you know that?
The sovereign is a well-known gold coin of the English mint and also means sovereign.
The 1488 logo was chosen in remembrance of the year of King James IV's coronation, who purchased beer from the brewery located on the site where the Tullibardine Distillery now stands.
