Nose : the smoky scent of peat persists, while dry, earthy notes are also discernible. Both peaty and ashy, it then gives way to oak, revealing its delicacy in waves: soft caramel, fudge, vanilla custard, enhanced with a touch of ginger, a pinch of nutmeg and cloves. A drop of water is enough to coax the citrus fruits and the delicious lemon and clementine meringue, which release their fresh notes
Mouth : soft and delicate. The balance of aromas is sublime when the power of peat envelops the sweetness and depth of oak. Coconut, vanilla custard and lemon honey then meet smoked oysters and warm sun-kissed sand.
Finale : the finale is splendid. Smoky, of course, but also sweet thanks to the flavors of caramel and malted barley. The depth of the oak also allows orange, mango and banana-caramel tart to appear. With each sip, the aromas intertwine and reveal their complexity. Notes of apple and ripe apricot follow the coming and going of peat smoke. The sweetness of malt and oak adds to this delicate marriage, skilfully enhanced by the emblematic dry smoke of Port Charlotte.
