The Savanna Distillery is located on Réunion Island . It was designed and built by Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950. At the time, situated in Saint Paul, it was attached to the sugar refinery of the same name. In 1982, following the signing of a major rum supply contract with a leading German client, the Savanna Distillery acquired a distillation unit whose production was solely dedicated to the manufacture of light rum for export. This acquisition was the catalyst for the development of the Savanna Distillery's rum-making technology, which, from that year onward, significantly diversified and improved the quality of its products. Today, the Savanna Distillery exports the majority of its rum production to professionals. Like many rum distilleries, the Savanna Distillery uses a batch fermentation process , also known as a "mother tank" process, consisting of eight 100 ^m³ fermenters and all their associated equipment. This discontinuous fermentation process is synonymous with obtaining a high-quality product.

This Savanna Herr is a limited edition released in 2022. This traditional rum is distilled from Bois Rouge sugarcane molasses, fermented for 11 days. 2,600 bottles were produced.
