History: The origins of Château de La Grille date back to the 15th and 16th centuries. It was transformed and renovated in the early 19th century by Marquis Gustave de Cougny in the Troubadour style. At that time, La Grille wine became "the benchmark of Chinon for its quality." In 1951, Albert Gosset, from a long line of Champagne winemakers, acquired it, expanded it, and improved it into a state-of-the-art winery. Since 2009, brought back into the spotlight by Christophe Baudry and Jean-Martin Dutour, it has regained its former glory, and both the estate and the vineyard live up to their reputation as "THE EXCEPTION OF CHINON."
The 35 hectares of vineyards at Château de La Grille in CHINON are planted with the single Cabernet Franc grape variety, on the clay-limestone soils around the château.
