The Louis Latour estate is one of the most prestigious in Burgundy . It was founded at the end of the 18th century and has always belonged to the same family. Furthermore, the estate has its own cooperage, where the barrels in which its wines age are made.
The grapes used to produce Louis Latour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru come from 40-year-old vines planted in clay, limestone, and gravelly soils. Their average yield is 35 hectoliters per hectare. The harvest is done by hand.
These same lands of Veugeot were already cultivated by Cistercian monks in the 12th century. The monks had then created a cellar capable of holding up to 2,000 barrels. Today, Clos Veugeot is the largest Grand Cru vineyard in Burgundy. Its 52 hectares belong to 80 different owners.
