SHAKARA 12 YEAR OLD THAI RUM 45.7% 70CL
This cuvée, named Shakara after the Sanskrit term indicating the South Asian origin of sugarcane, was crafted from local molasses, distilled in a column still, and aged entirely in Thailand under a tropical climate. Demonstrating remarkable generosity, its aromatic and flavor profile is a delightful interplay of classic and lush notes. Over time, it has developed a radiant personality built upon admirably integrated oak.
Tasting notes
Nose : Both delicate and heady. Dried fruits (almond, walnut) mingle with elegant aromas of beeswax, heather honey, and toffee. With aeration, a lovely rancio reduction (apricot, cherry in brandy) underscores its exuberant character.
Appearance : Orangey copper.
Palate : Clean, lively. Dynamic, the attack on the palate oscillates between flavors of cane sugar, exotic fruits (mango, papaya) and fresh fig. Then notes of rock candy and salted caramel highlight a perfectly integrated oakiness.
Finish : Long, silky. Medicinal (mustard seed), the finish quickly evolves towards vanilla notes (custard). On the aftertaste, a thin film of licorice gently coats the palate. The finish is floral (jasmine, geranium, hyacinth) and resinous (thuja).
